|
This article examines some of the ethical issues associated with authoritarianism in the Korean medical community from the perspective of Erich Fromm. The article first describes the authoritarianism in the Korean medical community using Fromm¡¯s concepts of ¡°alientation¡± and ¡°escape.¡± The article then introduces Fromm¡¯s concept of ¡°activity¡± as a means of overcoming some of the problems with authoritarianism in the Korean medical community.
